Six Tertiary Sisters Mark Milestones of Religious Life in Cameroon

The Tertiary Sisters of St. Francis celebrated the First Profession of two sisters and the jubilee anniversaries of four others during a joyful Eucharistic liturgy on 24 June 2026, the Solemnity of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist. The celebration took place at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish near the city of Buea in Cameroon’s Southwest Region and brought together clergy, religious, family members, parishioners, and friends.

Bishop Michael Miabisue Bibi of Buea presided over the liturgy, during which Sisters Emmaculate Ringnyu Tanyu Personen Leticia Vernyuy made their First Profession as members of the Tertiary Sisters of St. Francis, St. Clare Province. In his homily, Bishop Bibi encouraged the newly professed sisters to remain faithful to their vocation through lives of prayer, humility, and service.

The Mass also honored four sisters celebrating jubilees of religious profession. Sisters Antonia Ayangma Personen Marie Goretti Asoh marked 60 years of religious life, while Sisters Flavia Njingla Personen Vera Lontum celebrated their 50th anniversaries. Bishop Bibi thanked the jubilarians for their decades of faithful service and their enduring witness to the Gospel.

Joyful music, prayer, and the active participation of the congregation marked the celebration, which concluded with a reception where family members, friends, clergy, and parishioners gathered to congratulate the newly professed sisters and the jubilarians.

Bringing together women at the beginning of religious life with others celebrating five and six decades of service, the liturgy highlighted the continuity of the congregation’s mission across generations. The celebration also reflected the ongoing ministry of the Tertiary Sisters in education, healthcare, pastoral care, evangelization, and social outreach throughout Cameroon.
