To mark the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis, Bishop Hermann Glettler and the Italian Cultural Association invited 800 people to share a meal in Innsbruck Cathedral. Guests were served pasta with a glass of wine or water. Tables were arranged in the shape of the Franciscan Tau, accommodating 100 diners at a time over eight half-hour sittings.
Students from Villa Blanka served the meal, while more than 100 volunteers ensured the event ran smoothly. Religious sisters formed the “Dignity in the Cathedral” team, helping preserve the respectful atmosphere of the cathedral throughout the event. The Tertiary Sisters were represented by six sisters.
At the beginning of each sitting, Bishop Hermann Glettler offered a brief welcome, and Sr. Notburga Maringele shared a short reflection on the life of St. Francis.
The event concluded with contemplative readings by Tobias and Julia Moretti, accompanied by two musicians performing Baroque music.
