From 5th to 8th March 2025, social workers and leaders committed to justice, peace, and environmental stewardship gathered from across St Clare Province for a meeting in Kombo, Cameroon. They are part of a team known as JPIC promoters — people who help inspire and guide faith-based efforts for justice, peace, and care for creation.
Over the course of several days, participants reflected on how they can make a difference in their communities and deepen their mission.
Justice and Social Outreach
Br Cyril Kerla, OFMCap, and Sr Clementine Ngong, TSSF, spoke about the importance of standing with the marginalised. They emphasized that faith is not only personal but also calls for action to uphold human dignity. The speakers encouraged practical steps — especially during this Jubilee Year of Hope — to support those in need and address systemic injustices in everyday ministry.

Building Peace in Divided Communities
Recognising that peace is often fragile in today’s world, Br Cyril challenged participants to become active peacemakers. He encouraged them to foster dialogue, promote understanding, and help resolve conflicts within their communities.
Caring for Creation
Sr Celine Epie, TSSF, and Br Cyril also addressed environmental stewardship, reminding everyone that caring for the earth is part of caring for each other. They offered ideas for simple, sustainable practices that faith communities can adopt and highlighted how environmental care, social justice and peace-building are all connected.
Before the gathering concluded, Fr Gaston Muh Njiche, CMF, urged each participant to identify needs in her own local community and take concrete action. Whether through outreach projects or small, everyday efforts, the goal is to improve lives — especially for the most vulnerable. The meeting ended with the sisters creating an action plan, committing themselves to putting these values into practice in the months ahead. They left Kombo inspired, renewed, and ready to serve as agents of transformation in their communities.
